Signal Hill, CA, April 18, 1999 -- Millenia Internet Services, Inc., an ISP and leader in Internet access for home and business users, announced today the first high-speed DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) Internet connections have been deployed in L.A. and Orange Counties.

Utilizing GTE’s services, Millenia Internet Services, Inc. has connected various individuals and small businesses across Southern California.  Individual monthly services begin at $55. A cafeteria style suite of business services (ranging from $99 to $350 a month) are also being offered.  Millenia plans to grow the packages and deliver nationwide DSL services by the end of the year.

According to Brian Andrus, President of Millenia Internet Services, "DSL services are an important part of our growing businesses.  While we are not the first provider to offer DSL in Southern California we intend to quickly differentiate our services based on quality speed and reliability.  We have a strong commitment to our client base and a support agreement that runs circles around our competitors."  DSL technology significantly increases the speed of services and applications transmitted over existing copper telephone lines, which currently reach virtually 98 percent of all U.S. homes and businesses.  DSL technology utilizes existing copper telephone wires to deliver secure, non-shared data at speeds of up to 2.56 Megabits per second (Mbps), nearly 100 times faster than the capabilities of standard modems.  DSL is particularly valuable in solving the "last mile" bottleneck that can occur in some telephone service areas.
